Blessings of the Harvest
Blessing of the Harvest - a comb (in Arabic) This is the Palestinian version of the corn dolly. Made from wheat, with all heads turned down and out. According to a story from Daburia - a village in the Galilee -this is meant to symbolize all swords going out and Peace at home ("שלום בית") The tradition of weaving them has almost completely dissapeared. I was lucky to find a Druze family to learn from and now I renew the tradition, teaching it around. $ 12-18
Similar but not the same $ 14
This type of Corn dollies is typical to Asia minor, Greece and Turkey. A student of mine has told me she saw one like this while driving in a cab in Athens. The driver told her it was done by his grandmother. What a joy! $ 12\14
